WESTERN RED
CEDAR
|
|
Our
gates are constructed exclusively
from Western Red Cedar.
This
beautiful wood has natural tannins to help preserve its
character, quality and long lasting durability. It is naturally
resistant to decay, insects and weather.
Every board we use is hand-selected and kiln-dried. Kiln-drying
is a time-consuming and expensive process that reduces the
moisture content of the wood, thus reducing the expansion
and contraction during years exposed to the elements. The
result is improved dimensional stability over time.

Cedar
is the ultimate 'green' building material. It is legally,
responsibly and sustainably harvested. Less than 1% of timber
is harvested each year and for each tree that is harvested,
three are planted to ensure our forests will exist for years
to come.
Hundreds of years ago, native peoples of the Pacific Northwest
called the Western Red Cedar the ‘Tree of Life.’
The inherent versatility and longevity made it the superior
choice for ocean going canoes, post and beam houses and ancestral
totem poles. |
For
more than 100 years, designers, architects and builders
have utilized Western Red Cedar to enhance their projects.
Despite all attempts at imitation, no man-made product can
stand up to the qualities of this natural material.
