SEALING STAIN
We offer a beautiful selection of stain colors from which
to choose.
OIL
BASED STAIN: We use exclusively Sikkens Cetol SRD 250 oil-based
penetrating stains. The color options are shown below.
WATER
BASED STAIN: Our water-based dark stain options provide
a dark, even tone. The General Finishes water-based Exterior
450 wood stain color options are shown below. Additional
layers of this stain will darken the overall look of the
gate.
As
with any finish, these stains may require occasional re-coating

URETHANE
CLEAR COAT
You can also choose a professionally applied urethane clear
coat for gate doors up to 7ft wide (14ft double swing gates).
This service includes three coats of professionally sprayed
semi-gloss urethane, with hand sanding between each coat.
As with any finish, the clear coat may require occasional
re-coating.

PAINT
We also offer a professionally sprayed, painted finish option
for gate doors up to 7’ wide (14ft double swing gates).
You may chose from black or white, in a semi-gloss sheen,
or we can custom color match the color of your choice. For
custom color matching we request that you mail us a color
swatch. Painted gates receive two coats of primer and three
coats of water-based exterior Miller Paint, with sanding
between each coat for a superior painted finish. Extra paint
will be sent along with your gate for future touch-ups.
As with any finish, the paint may require occasional re-coating.

POWDER
COAT
All metal window art options, as well as our medium and
high load hinges, decorative hinge straps and clavos are
finished with a protective powder coating. This finish is
durable and protects the metal from the elements, preventing
corrosion. Our standard powder coat color is black, 20%
gloss. This color blends well in most settings and compliments
our product line. If, however, you require an alternate
powder coat color, this can be accommodated for an additional
charge. Powder coat colors can be viewed below. Extra charges
may apply for custom powder coat colors

UNFINISHED
Many of our customers choose to have their gates shipped
in the unfinished condition, with no stain or sealing material
applied. If you select this option for your gate, the wood
will have a well-sanded, smooth surface that is ready to
accept the finish of your choice. Because our gates are
constructed from kiln-dried cedar, it is very important
not to let the gate absorb moisture before applying the
finish. For best coverage, we recommend applying the finish
before hanging the gate. Gates that are left unfinished
will have a shortened lifespan and will be more susceptible
to deterioration of the wood as well as joint failure.
